Even though spring is over, summer is still in full swing. This means that most families can spend more time with their children. Now is the perfect time to freshen up your space and organize your finances, closets, and kitchens before the start of summer. A clean, tidy, and organized home gives you the freedom to do things you didn’t know you could do. If you hate spring cleaning, I have some helpful tips for you that will ease your spring cleaning routine.
Declutter and Organize Your Closets
We all outgrow our clothes. We may lose a few sweaters, gain a few pounds, or decide that we like that blouse better than the one on the shelf. No matter how you chose to get rid of clothes that no longer fit, it’s easier to put them in a drawer or pile them in the back of the closet. It’s easier to find the right clothes for the day when your wardrobe or dresser is in disarray. Clearing out old clothes before buying new ones is an excellent way to organize and declutter your home.
By decluttering and cleaning out your closets, you can give back to your community. You can give away or donate clothes that you no longer need or like. You can help the community by donating your clothes to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Goodwill will give you a receipt so you can make a profit. You can fill it out and submit it on your tax return to get your money back.
A drawer can be used for any clothing. While it’s tempting to keep clothes in drawers, it can be challenging to remember where you put a particular piece of clothing when you want to find it again. Organizing your dresser so that each drawer holds a specific type of garment will save you time and keep you on track. I prefer to work from the top down and fill my dresser with the most worn clothing. Two drawers are my shirt drawers. I keep short sleeve and long sleeve shirts together and dress shirts and long sleeve shirts together in one drawer.
Clean and Declutter Your Kitchen
Many of us have too many kitchen appliances. Many of us buy or purchase more appliances than we need. Instead of throwing them away, we store them in a drawer or the back of a closet. Sort through all of your appliances and utensils to see what you need. Anything that still ends up in the box or cabinet can be donated or thrown away.
Don’t store old, broken, or worn-out tools with spare ones. You will be surprised what you will find in your kitchen drawers. Now you can make room in your kitchen for organizing and decluttering. You will love cooking in a clean and well-organized kitchen. It will be easier to prepare a meal in your kitchen than shopping at a restaurant.
